Summer, from June to August, is ideal for beach lovers and outdoor adventurers, boasting warm weather, calmer seas, and plenty of sunshine. It’s also the perfect time for beginner surfers, as the smaller, gentler waves provide an excellent learning environment.

Fall, particularly September and October, brings a quieter, more serene atmosphere as summer crowds dwindle. With the arrival of storms, the waves pick up, making it a thrilling season for experienced surfers seeking bigger swells. Storm watching also becomes a popular activity in the fall, as visitors marvel at the raw power of nature from cozy spots along the rugged coastline. Combined with stunning autumn colours and a vibrant culinary scene featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients, fall offers a magical Tofino experience.

How much can I expect to pay for Tofino accommodations?

Tofino has become one of the most popular destinations in British Columbia, and with that popularity, prices have skyrocketed in recent years. If you’re traveling on a budget, consider visiting during the fall or spring seasons. These times offer incredible storm-watching and epic surf while saving you some serious cash on accommodations. On average, hotels during these seasons range from $200 to $400 per night.

Winter is the cheapest time to visit Tofino, but keep in mind that many restaurants and businesses close in January, so it’s not always the best option. Summer, on the other hand, is peak tourist season—and also the most expensive. In summer, you can expect most accommodations to cost between $400 and $600 per night.

For travellers looking for a combination of luxury and laid-back beach vibes, the next stop on your accommodation search should be the renowned Long Beach Lodge. This is where we stayed during our wedding weekend, and the majority of guests who stayed here too, absolutely loved it!

For one, the lodge is located on the best surf beach in Tofino, Cox Bay Beach. Two, the cozy guest rooms and suites feature stunning ocean views, fireplaces, and plush bedding to ensure a peaceful night’s rest. And three, there are unbeatable amenities and common areas. For example, guests can unwind at happy hour in the Great Room with its large stone fireplace. Or watch Tofino’s iconic sunsets with a cocktail in hand at the Sandbar Bistro, or indulge in more casual fair while playing a game of pool at The Surf Club.

We especially loved the direct beach access, outdoor hot tubs, cozy outdoor fire pits, and a surf club offering lessons and rentals, Long Beach Lodge provides the ideal setting for a relaxing and adventurous Tofino getaway. I stayed at Middle Beach Lodge for my brother’s wedding, and I was absolutely blown away by everything—the exceptional service, the breathtaking location, and the stunningly cozy rooms. The lodge felt like a warm embrace, offering so much thoughtfulness throughout our stay. They truly went above and beyond, providing rain boots, jackets, and umbrellas for guests (a lifesaver in Tofino’s weather). But the real highlight for me? The homemade chocolate cookies they set out before bed—clearly, they know the way to my heart! Every detail, from the comfort of the rooms to the little personal touches, made our time there unforgettable.

Since staying here they have added modern ‘treehouses’ which are on my list to stay next.
