Welcome to A Blissful Wander! I’m thrilled that you’ve stumbled upon my corner of the internet. I’m Amber, a Vancouverite at heart, but you’ll often find me working remotely in Byron Bay, Australia, soaking up the sun with my husband Ben for a good 40% of the year. With 46 countries’ worth of stamps in my passport, my wanderlust is unquenchable, and I can’t wait to explore New Zealand and Turkey next.
A Blissful Wanderer was born out of a desire to connect with a community of like-minded female dreamers, adventurous travellers, and ambitious young professionals always on the move, be it by road or by air. If you strive for a healthy lifestyle, value staying stylish, and constantly find yourself daydreaming about your next getaway, then this blog is tailored just for you. My goal is to provide content that ignites your dreams, sparks inspiration for your upcoming trips, and guides you towards living a truly blissful life.
Why I Started A Blissful Wanderer
A Blissful Wanderer was born in 2011, fuelled by a transformative backpacking journey across Australia & South East Asia, inspiring me to share my experiences through a blog. Although hindered by the constraints of time and self-doubt, my unwavering passion for travel led me to my dream job at Contiki Holidays, where I explored the world for both work and pleasure as their West Coast sales manager for over four years. Now, six years later, I’ve finally mustered the courage to embark on this blogging journey, eager to impart the knowledge gained from the travel industry and my own adventures, all while embracing the freedom of remote work. Join me on this thrilling new adventure!
My Experience in Tourism
As I mentioned above, I worked for Contiki Holidays for several years, learning the ins and outs of a global tour operator and working alongside travel agencies and tourism boards. Now, I work remotely as a part time contractor for a tourism marketing agency called Destination Think. They work with Government run Tourism Boards from across the world to help with marketing With several years of invaluable experience at Contiki Holidays, immersing myself in the intricacies of a global tour operator and collaborating with travel agencies and tourism boards, I have now transitioned into a remote role as a part-time contractor for Destination Think, a leading tourism marketing agency. Specializing in content creation and social media management for diverse global destinations, I bring a wealth of expertise that allows me to offer valuable insights and share my passion for travel on this blog.
Because of my career experience in tourism, I have an extra layer of knowledge when it comes to travel and I am happy to share these insights on my blog. For example, one of my most popular posts is Booking a Trip Online vs. with a Travel Agent.
What You’ll See on A Blissful Wanderer
In addition, I have written posts on everything from packing tips, travel guides, tips to booking a trip, and remarkable accommodations, to pieces more catered to those who are constantly travelling for work and those who want to learn how they can live and work abroad.
I’ll also cover how to stay healthy and feel at home while travelling the globe. Plus, now that I’ve left my dream job to travel full time, I’m excited to share my adventures blissfully wandering throughout Australia, and share everything I learn about blogging and working remotely.
Although travel has always been my number one passion, style, wellness and self-development have also driven me in life, and therefore you will find these topics here at A Blissful Wanderer.
Is there anything else you would like to see on my blog? I’m always looking for new ideas so I can best help you in planning the perfect trip or inspire you to live a blissful life. Please share your ideas in the comments below, or direct message me on my Instagram, as I am on that the most. I would honestly LOVE to hear from you and hear where you dream of travelling to next.
Thanks again for following along! I’m so happy you found my little corner of the internet.
My Inspiration
“If you follow your bliss you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while waiting for you, and the life you ought to be living is the one you are living. When you see that, you begin to meet people who are in the field of your bliss, and they open the doors to you. I say, follow your bliss and don’t be afraid, and doors will open where you didn’t know they were going to be. If you follow your bliss, doors will open for you that wouldn’t have opened for anyone else.”
-Joseph Campbell
